5 Things To Do To Be Successful

It’s yet another Blog tag go round!

This time from Andy Wibbels.

Here are 5 things I do every day, or almost every day, that help me be successful:

1. Go For A Walk – FIRST THING!

First thing can vary from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. Yep! I go walking at 2 a.m.!

My friends think I’m crazy… I am. But, often this walk is only alone time I get all day. It certainly is the ONLY time away from distractions like the computer, Internet, phone, and radio. I  use the time to walk and think and ponder and dream and kvetch!

It’s a much needed strategy to keep me somewhat focused and certainly sane.

2. Write, Journal. Blog.

I’ve been bad for doing my Morning Pages lately. But, I do try to write something every day. Ideally, I’d Blog every  day but some days I’m just to bitchy even for myself. I figure if I can’t stand my thoughts I sure as hang don’t want to share them with others. DOWNER!

But, writing keeps me sane and creative. I MUST WRITE or I feel sick.

3. Light Therapy

I’m one of the millions of North Amercians who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder — I blame it on my Norwegian ancestry. At any rate, winter and low light levels bring depression, low energy — and, because I also suffer from Fibromyalgia: PAIN.

Amazingly, 1 hour in front of my Lite Book every afternoon helps keep the pain low. Not always but it sure is a heck of a lot better than those weeks I spent in bed before I discovered that doing Light Therapy in the afternoon, instead of the morning, would lessen my pain.

Less or no pain = more creativity, energy, and work!

4. Talk With My Friends/Buddies/Support Network

I’m a born and bred Helper, a Two on the Enneagram. Over the years I’ve learned that I can rely on others for help and advice. I have a couple of real good friends, a coach, and a therapist I can call any time!

Sometimes, just chatting with my best friend Brenda about whatever, helps to ease the pain of Fibro. And, that extraverted intuition we share juices my creativity!

5. Prayer

Every day when I go to bed I pray. I thank "God" (whoever) for all the people and things I appreciate this day. I ask for courage, wisdom, and strength to honour my commitments and follow my Callings.

Sometimes, when Life throws a real curve at me in the middle of the day, I might just stop and ask for guidance.
