One of the coolest tools I have for consulting my Inner Self is the set of cards published as Treasures from Tikashi. Read here to learn the orgins of these 75 cards.
A former Gestalt therapist had these and we would occasionally use them during sessions to provoke dialogue and direction.
Each card features a word and a set of ‘instructions’ or advice about how to apply that word in one’s life.
The other day when I was feeling pained and sensing something underneath the pain, I asked this question: "What do I need to do to figure out what’s causing this pain?"
I shuffled the cards. Divided them in two piles. Held one pile in each hand. Asked myself which pile the answer was in. Discarded the pile that didn’t resonate. And, repeated this routine until I had two cards left. Looked at both and KNEW which was the answer.
The card I drew said…
Compassion
Advice included: "Allow tenderness and kindness into your thoughts and actions and soften your attitude to yourself and others. Feel how good it is to be kind to yourself." And, this zinger, "Allow the feminine energy of gentleness to enter your daily life."
Why a zinger?
Because the left side symbolizes the feminine aspect. And, a wouned left leg is symbolic of wounding in the feminine self… especially difficulty moving forward.
So, I need to find ways to be kind to myself.
Yesterday, one way I did that was to decide NOT to do all the errands I had set out to do. So, instead of running off to the post office, 2 banks, the library, and the office supply store. I went to the banks and came home. Ta da! Felt better for it.
I can visit the library and office supply store when I’m out at a client site today.
Never do today what you need to put off to tomorrow — to be kind to yourself!
