His Demons

HIS DEMONS

In the end,

his demons came

to reclaim

his soul.

He never knew me

and

I only knew him

through his words.

But I admired his

seemingly easy ability

to bare his soul,

his vulnerabilities,

his needs,

his desires,

his lusts,

for the exotic,

the unique.

To dare

to take himself

to the edge

and beyond.

He said of himself

I conquered my addiction

to heroin.”

Through a massive exercise

of will.

But he traded one

addiction for another,

it is said.

From heroin

to heroines.

And in the end,

by self murder,

his demons

came to claim

his soul.
