Last post I suggest that one key to eliminating pain was to say No.
Heard that before? Probably.
So, how’s it going?
I don’t know about you, but if "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions" then I have a PhD in paving! Saying No, Respecting my limits, is one of those Intentions I’ve had trouble with.
Here’s some things I’ve learned about No-ing my Limits.
- Start early – Don’t wait until you are at your limits to start stopping. It’s like drinking. You don’t avoid .08 blood alcohol by stopping at the 2nd beer. You avoid it by stopping after the 1st beer.
- Commit to No Your Limits – It’s easy to say you are going to do something. But, if you want that statement to have force, make it a commitment. In fact, say to yourself, "I commit to go to bed early tonight."
- Pay Attention – Our bodies are giving us signals constantly. However, we may have become used to ignoring those subtle signs. DON’T. When it hurts a little bit — STOP!
When you No Your Limits your life will be more joyful and pain free.
