DOING WHAT'S IMPORTANT: #2 Become a Detective

At my ezine this week, I talked about strategies for focusing on and actually working on, accomplishing your priorities.

Does your ‘real’ job get in the way of doing what you love?

This Blog-week, I’m going to talk about more techniques for dealing with that problem.

Idea #1 was "Accept what is!" This frees up energy. Energy you can now use for…

Idea #2: Become a Detective!

Do you know the patterns and rhythyms of your life and work?

If you don’t, you need to.

Why?

You need to understand:

– how your own body rhythyms: your sleep/awake cycle, your energy cycle, your psychic flow all ebb and flow.

– what affects your ability to create,

– how your moods impact your creativity,

– how relationship support and cripple your ability to create.

Get the drift?

You body/mind/soul/spirit is a ‘system’, a finely tuned ecological system. It isn”t linear. And, you need to understand what helps it flourish. And, what kills it!

Than means being a Detective.

Paying attention. Gathering information. Looking for clues.

And, looking the data in the equibalent of the Detectives’ little black notebook.

I use a multi-column table to record: sleep time, weather, exercise, stress, GI and ENT symptoms, and a Health Quotient.

Why these?

Because over the years I’ve learned that these are the most imprortant factors to track. It’s these factors that most severly impact my health, energy, and therefore ability to create.

Yeah, I know!

Logging sound tedious. And,  it is a bit. But, once it becomes a habit it’s not. And, the data it provides is so valualble in helping you get a handle on what’s impacting you.

See ya soon!
