Genre Busting(TM) Is…

Not the same thing as this story in Yahoo news "Crossing Genres: Canadian Actress Jill Hennessy moves from acting to music".

According to Answers a Genre is: " A category of artistic composition, as in music or literature, marked by a distinctive style, form, or content."

Genre has its roots in the Latin word Genus. Remember your biology? Family. Genus. Species. etc.

So, the classy Canadian babe from my home province Alberta, is making a move from one category of artistic expression ACTING to SINGING.

Crossing Genres is changing form of expression.

Genre Busting(TM) is different. It’s about shaking things up. It’s about breaking out of the pattern, out the box. It’s about combining eclectic elements to create a new style, a new creative expression.

Ironically, in some ways it’s about creating a whole new GENRE.

For my eclectic clients it’s about what Tom Peters called, "The Brand Called You." It’s about being all they can be OF THEMSELVES. It’s about expressing THEMSELVES. And, it’s about not modeling someone else but carving new paths.

It’s break out time!
