Say you’re a child genius.
Say, you go to the BEST, uppity "in" genius school.
What’s the odds you’ll be the next Davinci?
Not very darn good! At least according to Malcom Gladwell. Gladwell was a child prodigy …
as, get this, a RUNNER!
In an interview in the Observer, the newsletter of Britain’s Association for Psychological Science, Gladwell explores numerous studies that show there is little connection between childhood brilliance and adult success.
I found this comment particularly telling:
"We
think of precociousness as an early form of adult achievement, and, according to
Gladwell, that concept is much of the problem. “What a gifted child is, in many
ways, is a gifted learner. And what a gifted adult is, is a gifted doer. And
those are quite separate domains of achievement.â€
So, doesn’t that give you hope?
It does me.
Childhood was not a good time for me. I’m hoping then, that I can out DO my childhood.
What about you?
